If you do not know or may not keep
in tune with the world of technology, Microsoft currently are giving a
limited time a public beta(testing the operating software) for the
people who are brave or tech know hows to use the upcoming new
operating system of Windows. I took the time to download the operating
software and since I have a high-speed internet, it did not take too
long to download. It did not take too long to burn the DVD image. If
you do not know what it means to burn the image, it defines as: An ISO
image is an archive file (a.k.a. disk image) of an optical disc using a
conventional ISO (International Organization for Standardization)
format that is supported by many software vendors. ISO image files
typically have a file extension of .ISO but Mac OS X ISO images often
have the extension .CDR.*
I am going to only briefly describe my experiences thus far with my Windows 7 beta journey.
First I did use my older computer to install the beta operating software.
It took about approx 45min long w/o internet connection.
Specifications of the computer:
Aspire 5003 WLMi Mobile AMD Turion 64 ML32
15"4 screen
512MBDDR RAM
100GB HDD
DVD Dual Double Layer
Used Approx 32 GB par 2 drive, which was the Windows XP drive
The other par went to Ubuntu
Partition- (par)- In computing, a logical partition, commonly called an LPAR, is a subset of computer's hardware resources, virtualized as a separate computer. In effect, a physical machine can be partitioned into multiple LPARs, each housing a separate operating system.
Generally, Microsoft kept their word on improving their operating system with older and netbook systems. I did wonder about the graphics view in older computers. I did adjust to lower resolution. The pixels looked funny. Some pictures looked okay. The navigation system is a bit less frustrated then Vista. Unless you are still using Windows XP. Or you are not use to Linux or Mac platform. Hint, hint!
Stay tuned for updates at some point!Microsoft did another set of advertisment that focus on "I am a PC" vs "I am a Mac".
Microsoft, please listen to your costumers, and your critics, they did not care for your Gates and Senfield's advertisements or understand what it was about. I did find the humour to it, sorry most did not. Senfield had to be sidelined and become your causality. Now you have the new sets of ads Life without Walls. My impression: They are with the devices and not without any walls. I do not believe people will get your ads either once again. I am going to hold on my breath for a few days for general public's reaction. The video advertisements are more of celebrity endorsements. I was not feeling wow, perhaps they are better off sticking to the Senfield ads.
Don't we all complain
especially when it comes to setting up router for your computers. I do
not even know too many of the computer sales-person or technician want
you to know that much about the operating system. I also do not know
they even know the latest security threats unless they are really
enthusiast or they do care about you coming back and buy again from the
same place. That is nice to know. All right, I sound cynical. I am.
Yet, I do cave into the customer of buying more then what I need. I do
not like to buy more than I need for my latest technology. Space for my
apartment is limited. I got this little router by LINKSYS. Setup was
easy at first, but there are some problems now that I do not have a
resolution or the brain capacity to deal with. I am using creative ways
to deal with reviews of my new router's potential overheating by
installing another router that I have, D-Link. It did not produce
results, rather now I am stuck with a bigger problem then originally
had. D-Link has an easy setup program for me to go through again if I
made a boo-boo. With Windows Vista's complex idea of security and
networking, the router(s) were very unhappy. The connections were sad.
I was sad with the first wireless networking attempt. I was bewildered
with how Vista's networking are so difficult to navigate, but for a
good reason, in the name of the security. I am still in this day
navigating through the Windows Vista's features. After having this for
a few months, stick with the familiar if you can, Windows XP. I could
not because I decided that the time for parting with XP was a few
months ago and there were some security issues that are still not
resolved. My old laptop is still running XP beta 3 and will not upgrade
til the resolution satisfy this user. For now, I will put up with dual
boot of Windows Vista and one of the Linux favours. (hey the most
popular distro, can you guess?)
