According to the US Department of Labour, transportion certainly takes a chunk out of our wallet. No wonder why our wallets feel a whole lot lighter. We eat a lot less in these hard times. May I inquire why pensions are so high? I do understand why on health insurance?
In Canada, most of these numbers would be similar, though we would adjust a few numbers, such as insurance, health, and taxes(because we pay more in taxes).
This news was originated from New York Daily News, oh dear! This link above is from the Consumerist, now run by the Consumer Media(Consumer Reports). All right, this is not Canada at all, but when I saw this post, I must post this because TD is all over Canada and US does have its investment firms(Waterhouses) in the US, banks? Well, now we know how they do their business, the Canadian way, sorry, TD, you cannot apply your Canadian friendly ways in the US, especially in New York!!!
I came across a site CNN Political Market. The rules and basics are: 5000 bucks virtual currency. A place where you can predict 2008 US presidential race through election markets. This site reminds me of- people go on betting odds or pools. Since I prefer the safe virtual long term investment markets, this CNN Political Market makes better sense.
Politics and food does seem to mix especially if they come in a form of barbecue. I love my burgers, but I love the fries a whole much better. Its as much a Canadian tradition as an American ones. Most politicians would like to meet and greet their people from barbecues when campaigning. Here is an American way of making a couple of Presidential burgers.
Are you eating out less frequently? Purchasing less food? Purchasing less gasoline? Purchasing less essentials? Skipping your meals and feeding your children first? Paying the bills on-time. Walking or biking everywhere? Hyper-miling? Turning your lights off and renting less videos?
In the Treehugger post- I noted a picture that reminded me of 1930s The Great Depression?
A few days before John McCain went and chose his VP- he went to Jay Leno and that gave me some idea about how politicians may not be aware of their oops, "I did not mean to say that". McCain may not be aware that he slipped some of his most inner thoughts on his VP pick. You may have to watch it a few times to get what Leno and McCain were conversing about.
Usually, I do not partially have a good pallet for politics expect for humour. Down south of the boarder, Obama and McCain is heating up the barometer. The people down there are passionate and even our politicians in Canada are more interested in the US elections then our own. Meanwhile, you may ask, what is so interesting about Canada besides igloo, polar bears, Pierre Trudeau, totem poles, and maple syrup?
We have a Prime Minister named Stephen Harper from the Conservative Party. He is a stuff shirted version of Gordon Brown, the British Prime Minister, expect very questionable. (I sort of thought of Putin too) We have an opposition party leader named also named- Stephane Dion from the Liberal Party. Does he remind me of anything? Nay. In any kind of political in-fightings, these folks engage what children would do in the playground. Imagine, when children have disputes in the playground. I also witness what US wants is what Canada would strive to have. Some of the people in US would strive to have our health care. We nag and not getting what we want. We wonder why each election(s) cycles. Why change have not been done. Why each politicians tried so hard to please us, the voters? Is Canadian a realistic bunch of voters who does not expect much of our politicians? Or they are the sheep underneath the wolf's clothing?
Off topic about Obama- I am a Canadian that does not need an Obama look alike Version 2.0 and thank you. There is only one Obama and that should be the way it is.
